REQUIREMENT—MAJOR BASEBALL DIVISION:
ALL
candidates that register between the league ages of 9 thru 12 will be
required to attend a scheduled player evaluation session to determine
selection to the Major Baseball and Softball Divisions.
The Major Baseball
Division alignment is as follows:

American Division – consist
mainly of ALL 9 year olds and a large percentage of 10
year olds and 11 olds not selected to a National Division
team. The American Division is competitive and developmental.

National Division – consist
of ALL 10 thru 12 year olds that meet or exceed the skill
level required to compete in this division.
The Major Softball
Division alignment is as follows:

Major Gold Division – consist
of 10 thru 12 year olds that meet or exceed the skill
level required to compete in this division.

Major Silver Division –
consist of ALL 9 year olds and ages 10 thru 11 that are
not selected to a Major Division team.
Junior Baseball and
Softball Divisions – ALL
registered candidates will make a team to compete at this level.
Senior Baseball and
Softball Divisions – ALL
registered candidates will make a team. Schedule for the evaluations for
this division will be determined by the number of candidates that register.
These two divisions cannot be in conflict with the high school season, thus
if there are evaluations for these divisions they will be held at the end of
April. Date, time and notification will be determined.
SCHEDULE FOR EVALUATION:
At
the time of registration each player will be assigned a date and time to be
evaluated.
ATTENDANCE:
1.
ALL
candidates must attend the scheduled evaluation time that will be assigned
to them at the time of registration in order to be eligible for selection to
a team. In the event that the candidate cannot make the appointed
evaluation time, it is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to either
e-mail the league player agent via the league web page or come to the park
in person
on the day their child is scheduled for the evaluation.
2.
Players that played in the Major National Division the previous
season (2007) must attend and participate in evaluations in order to be
considered for selection again to the National Division.
3.
Failure for the parent/guardian to communicate with the league
regarding cancellation or re-scheduling of the evaluation as it pertains to
the Major Baseball or Major Softball Divisions, the player will
automatically be ineligible for selection at the higher level of play (Major
Baseball National or Major Gold Softball) and will be placed or selected to
the Major Baseball American or the Major Silver softball division.
4.
Junior Baseball and Softball Divisions. Failure for a player to be
in attendance for evaluation, the Board of Directors shall review the
situation and make the determination of the candidate’s eligibility for
selection.
EVALUATION:
1.
Each team manager will be issued an evaluation form that will list
each candidate from the league player agent.
2.
Each candidate will be assigned an evaluation number by the league
player agent.
3.
Candidates will be introduced to the manager and announce the
positions that they have played previously.
4.
Each candidate will be evaluated on different skills that include
fielding ground balls, fly balls, throwing, bunting, batting and base
running. For those candidates that wish to be evaluated for pitching and
catching, they will be given the opportunity to display these skills as part
of their evaluation.
5.
ONLY Board approved managers are permitted on the field during the
evaluation sessions. Coaches or individuals not appointed by the Board are
not permitted on the field during evaluations.
6.
Managers who have a child in the evaluation process are not permitted
to score their child.
SCORING:
1.
The following is the scoring level for each category of the
evaluation.
a.
5 = Top skill level
b.
3 = Meets skill level capability for division
c.
2 = Fair skill level—requires further development
d.
0 = safety risk
SAFETY RISK:
1.
Candidates that are determined by the team manager evaluation scores
to be a possible safety risk, the league player agent will meet with the
parent/guardian to apprise them of the situation and to determine if they
wish to have their child continue to participate. If the decision of the
parent/guardian to continue participation, then the candidate will
automatically be placed on either the Major Baseball American or Major
Silver softball division.
PLAYER SELECTION:
1.
Teams will be established thru a draft process as selected by the
team managers. The process utilized is reviewed and approved by Little
League Baseball prior to implementation.
2.
Players will be notified by the team manager that selected them 24
hours after the draft selection process.
