COMPETITIVE DIVISIONS
The competitive divisions are an environment where the player that participates in is challenged to utilize and improve upon both their physical and mental skills to strive for success. The success is measured individually by how each player interacts and works in a team concept that results in games that have and end result while working within the frame work and the rules and regulations of Little League Baseball.
Little League Baseball rule number 1.02 clearly states that “the objective of each team is to win by scoring more runs than the opponent.”
The player that participates in the competitive divisions for the most part will be those that have a number of years playing experience (Little League and club ball levels) and their physical and mental skills are mature to appoint that offers the opportunity for success.
It is the goal of these divisions to determine a champion and to select players to represent the Thornydale Little League and the Northwest Community to be a part of the all-star tournament teams that participate in the International Little League Baseball tournaments.
It is the objective of the Thornydale Little League to be the feeder program to Mountain View High School baseball program. The competitive divisions allow for these criteria to be met.
IMPORTANT. It is extremely important that every parent and player eligible to participate at this level understands the definition and objective of the competitive divisions. If such an environment is not what you are looking for your player, please do not register.
The league has developed a partnership with the Northwest YMCA to offer a “recreational” style of baseball program (ages 5 thru 12) that would assure that every child in the northwest community that does not wish to participate at a competitive level, has the opportunity to still play the game at a pace that will allow them to improve upon their skill to a point where in the future they may want to return and participate within a competitive setting.
